Call on me to see all sides of any situation. The truth for you is not always the same truth for someone else. Everyone has their own truth based on their own life circumstances. I am here to help you seek your truth. It is safe to be honest with yourself. Knowing who you truly are will set you free.
There are two kinds of truth. One is Universal Truth and the other is personal truth. Karma, or what is known as “what goes around comes around,” is an example of Universal Truth. An example of a personal truth is that you have a green thumb. A personal truth is anything that is true for you and is considered an “exclusionary truth” because it is subjective and personal. A Universal Truth is an “inclusionary truth” because it applies to everyone.
Your Personal Truth
When someone speaks their truth, they are referring to exclusionary truths because they are describing their own personal experiences. They are sharing their own personal interpretations of experiences with people, places and things. These are the experiences of their individual lives, the ones that make you who you are. The fact that no one else shares the same feelings or experiences in exactly the same way is an exclusionary truth because everyone experiences everything differently.
Archeia Sophia helps you with your personal truth. She helps you to take a personal inventory so you can take responsibility for your actions, accept yourself for who you are, identify changes you wish to make, and promote self-awareness. In order to be effective, however, you must be thorough and completely honest. Examining yourself so closely is a tremendous tool to help you identify areas that need your attention. This process of self-reflection is necessary to move you closer to personal freedom.
How to do a Personal Inventory
A personal inventory serves as a way to check-in with yourself and provide moments of clarity. Not only will you be able to identify areas to improve upon, but you will also discover things about yourself that you like, and in some instances, treasure.
Most people tend to focus on their weaknesses and flaws and work toward overcoming them. But the fastest, most effective path to personal freedom is to focus on your best self, and to turn up the volume on the things you love doing, and that you do well. Not only that, but getting a clear picture of who you are when you’re at your best is a powerful and long-lasting way boost your sense of wellbeing.
One way to find the areas where you shine is to start by simply recognizing your positive qualities, by paying attention to the lovable parts of yourself and the things that you do well and enjoy doing. Since most people are not taught to do this on a regular basis, if at all, below are some questions to help get you started.
- What are some things you most enjoy doing – things that make you feel energized, that you can get so lost in that it feels as if time is standing still?
- What kinds of situations bring out the best in you? Where would you be? Who would be with you? What might you be doing?
- What inspires you?
- What challenges you?
- What makes you feel strong?
- What do you enjoy creating?
- What kinds of puzzles or problems do you enjoy solving?
- What would you be doing on your ideal vacation?
- What kinds of adventures do you enjoy?
- Where do you most often find and enjoy beauty?
- How have you bounced back after a disappointment, failure, or setback?
- How do you make other people feel good about themselves?
- In what ways do you make people smile or laugh?
- How do you offer comfort, encouragement, or support?
- For which of your personal qualities are you the most grateful?
- When do you feel that you’re being your true self?
- Who, in your circle of friends and acquaintances, do you highly admire? What does that person appreciate most about you?
- Who provides you with guidance? What does that person like about you?
- Where do you find the most purpose in your life?
- What do people compliment you about? What do others seem to think you do especially well? What do you enjoy doing for others?
When answering these questions, take some notes about the thoughts and images that come to mind. You can get even more from this exercise by writing down your answers and then looking for patterns. You may also enjoy using the insights as the basis for writing a personal description of yourself.
These questions are meant as a way to get you started and help you notice the positive sides of yourself. The things you enjoy and are good at are tools you can use on your path to personal freedom. By focusing on them, you can find more creative ways to develop those parts of your life where you don’t feel as strong.
Positive Reinforcement
While a personal inventory has the specific purpose of self-discovery in your spiritual ascension and personal freedom, it is not a one-time only event. It is incredibly helpful to take a personal inventory on a regular basis. Try asking yourself questions like those in the inventory as you fall asleep at night, as a kind of daily assessment of your day-to-day actions. What did you enjoy the most? What positive experiences did you notice and appreciate in yourself and others? What were the highlights of the day, and what do they tell you about yourself?
You may also want to print out these questions or file them somewhere that lets you access them easily. When you have a down day or an upsetting experience, pull them out and review them to remind you about the positive parts of yourself and reflect on where you can improve.
Above all, enjoy the good feelings about yourself that this inventory generates. Let the insights and discoveries trickle into your awareness and all areas of your life. Let it serve to heighten your awareness of the things you most appreciate about yourself, and that others appreciate about you. Likewise, let it heighten your awareness of others’ positive qualities and tell them. Notice the reactions you get when you express your appreciation.
Your greatest room for personal growth is in the area of your unique strengths and special talents, in all the qualities that make up your true self. Increasing your awareness of them and building on what you discover will strengthen your sense of wellbeing and allow you to continuously create personal freedom and liberation for yourself.
